Alan’s ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; “I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. For me Linus Torvalds epitomises community service – he contributed a piece of epic software to the world that went on to power most of the internet and morphed into Android and countless other systems that help power our world. He could have monetised Linux and been a Gates or a Jobs but decided against that rather creating a platform for other coders to learn from and contribute.
